We found our Senators, but we’re not sure we should have | YNaija Effectiveness Ranking for Senators

Last week was a confusing one. It looked like we couldn’t find our Senators. Good news – we located them. But in even more confusing developments, we realized they were in Morocco, of all places. Some of them, anyway (including Bukola Saraki and Dino Melaye.)

It’s tempting to say it would have been better for all our Senators to travel to Morocco for whatever covert mission Saraki and his cohorts were on. It certainly would have been preferable to the trivial power tussle we witnessed between the Senate and the Customs Comptroller-General, Hameed Ali.

Besides the fact of the law not exactly being in their favour in this situation, the entire situation makes light of the original issue. Given the fact that, this came just after Nigerians were allegedly killed and injured in a face-off with customs, it’s disappointing to see that a uniform is more important to our lawmakers than the lives of citizens.

Our ranking remains the same this week, but only really because we can’t name the entire senate as the worst.
