Regardless of who wins the presidential election, BBOG will continue Chibok girls campaign

Hadiza Bala Usman, the convener of the #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group, says that regardless of who emerges victorious at the presidential election on February 14, the campaign for the safe return of the Chibok schoolgirls abducted by the Boko Haram sect on April 14, 2014, will continue.

Usman made the statement on Wednesday, January 28, during the regular sit-out of the group, stressing the determination of the BBOG to continue to demand that the government bring back the abducted girls.

She said: “Irrespective of the outcome of the forthcoming election, we shall continue with the advocacy for the Chibok girls. The girls have always been our focus and they will continue to be until they are brought back,” she said.

“We will raise our voice and ask them what they want to do for the country as regards the insurgency? We will asks questions. The ruling party were there when the girls were abducted even though nothing was done, we will ask them what they will do to bring them back? The opposition party should also inform us what their plans are? We need a roadmap for the stoppage of insurgency and return of the Chibok girls.”

“We will continue to amplify our voices to the issues of the girls. Everybody that has sustained the advocacy for the girls should be applauded. We have stood for 289 days. We have created a new chart for a new Nigeria,” she added.
