The original ‘Roman’s Revenge’, which featured Eminem, added fuel to an already sizzling Minaj-Lil’ Kim beef. With both ‘Em and Nicki rapping as their notoriously-vulgar alter-egos (Slim Shady and Roman Zolanski respectively) over Swiss Beatz’ eerie strings and snares, the very best of the worst was flawlessly delivered. Although soundly criticized for Slim’s anti-gay slurs, the promotional single off Nicki’s ‘Pink Friday’ debut album still peaked at No. 56 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Lil’ Kim responded with ‘Black Friday’, a diss track replete with cheap shots, which has only garnered negative attention and minimal airplay.
The deceptively-titled ‘Roman’s Revenge 2.0′ is far from being an upgrade as Eminem’s ciphers are merely hot-swapped with a Lil’ Wayne verse. Sounding almost as energetic as he did on his flaming ‘6 Foot 7 Foot’ single, the Young Money CEO smoulders typically with such lines as ‘Life is a puzzle, jigsaw/All I do is win, my name should be Victor’. Turn up the bass mofo, here’s another speaker-thumperrrrr!
