Why Saraki, Ekweremadu may not be arraigned today

Officials of a Federal High Court in Abuja have backed the claims of Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu that no court summons had been served for the scheduled trial of the duo for forgery and corruption.

The commencement of hearing of the said charges was scheduled to begin today at the Abuja court.

The hearing has now been stalled after it was discovered that court officials have not properly served both men their court summons.

Th Senate President and his Deputy as well as the former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa and his deputy, Benedict Efeturi, are alleged to have forged the senate Standing Rule.

The Standing Rule was instrumental in the emergence of Saraki as the President of the Senate in 2015.
