Inia Baba is a vibrant 34 year old mother to an eight year old boy. She was in 2012 diagnosed with 2 kidney failures and was subsequently abandoned by her husband, who left as a result of her medical condition and the exorbitant cost.
Consequently, Inia is left to fend for her son as well as raise funds for her Kidney transplant at Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute (PSRI) Hospital in New Delhi India.
Fortunately, Inia’s mother will be donating a kidney for her medical transplant, however, she is in dire need of $55,000 by June 2016 to take care of all medical, transportation, accommodation and feeding expenses for both herself and her mum for the duration of the treatment in India.
Breakdown of the Medical Expense for Inia’s surgery:
-Pre-transplant work-up for donor and recipient: $2,000
-Kidney transplant procedure: $8,000
-Anti rejections injections used in the surgery: $2,000
-Airfare from Nigeria to India for Inia, her mother and donors witness (required by PSRI Hospital): $3,605.76
-Dialysis: $1,100
-Drugs after transplant: $3,000
-Post transplant dialysis: $2,000
-Logistics for 6 months stay in India: $41,600
This includes:
Accomodation (charges of inpatient stay in excess of stipulated night per package), charge of re-exploration requiring emergency surgery, charges of ventilator support if needed, feeding, visiting fees for consultants, treatment for unrelated illness.
