Senate forgery scandal is over, as court strikes out suit

The case of the alleged forgery of the Senate Standing Orders 2015, has been struck out by Justice Ademola Adeniyi of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

On Monday, August 31, Justice Adeniyi ended the suit that threatened the positions of Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu, as Senate President and Deputy Senate President, respectively.

Further hearing on the matter was terminated after the plaintiffs applied to withdraw the suit.

The plaintiffs are five Senators, namely; Abu Ibrahim, Kabir Marafa, Ajayi Boroffice, Olugbenga Ashafa and Suleiman Hunkuni.

Lawyer for the plaintiffs, Chief Mamman Osuman (SAN), said their decision to discontinue further hearing on the matter was in view of the fact that the essence of the suit had been overtaken by events.

Following their application, Justice Adeniyi, in a short ruling yesterday, struck out the suit.
