Senate to ‘thoroughly’ screen Buhari’s ministerial nominees

Feelers from the Senate suggests that the ministerial list of President Muhammadu Buhari will be thoroughly and meticulously screened.

The list arrived the Senate on Wednesday, as Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, handed it over to Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Saraki in turn, announced to the expectant nation that the list would be read out on Tuesday, October 6.

However, the procedure for screening the nominees, will be arrived at during plenary session on Wednesday.

Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, stated on Thursday in Abuja, that the screening of ministerial nominees would not be delayed by the Senate.

He said, “The communication from Mr. President, which contains the list of the ministerial nominees and which remained sealed as I am talking to you, will be opened by the Senate President as soon as we resume plenary on Tuesday.

“It will appear on the Order Paper on Wednesday morning and the Senate will set up the necessary legislative procedure for the screening exercise. I wish to assure Nigerians that the screening exercise will be thorough just the way the nomination process was thorough.”
