[The Sexuality Blog] Spread the word, BimInspire is offering free counselling for victims of sexual abuse and Domestic Violence this month

SURVIVE: A private counselling and therapy session organised by BimsInspire Foundation for victims of Sexual Abuse and Domestic Violence. The programme is supported by Stand To End Rape

This is so, so important. We are only starting to truly acknowledge that domestic violence and sexual abuse are epidemics quietly ravaging Nigeria’s households. As more victims (male, female and otherwise) come out and tell their stories, we celebrate and encourage them to move on and start new lives, but we do not acknowledge that for many victims who develop mental illnesses from their abuse, moving on is near impossible. Many victims of abuse and violence need therapy to even come to terms with what happened to them, let alone overcoming their pasts.

Thankfully on June 24, 2017, BimInspire and Stand To End Rape (who do great work advocating for victims of sexual and domestic abuse) are offering a day of free therapy for people who have suffered abuse and who have suffered trauma as an indirect consequence of close family/friends suffering abuse.

If you know anyone who needs this, please share the word or ask them to fill this form. Sadly the session is restricted to Lagos, but hopefully they will find the funding to expand.

You needn’t suffer alone, take some time and let the guys at BimInspire and S.T.E.R. help.
