A soldier has shot and killed a fellow soldier at the Onopa area of Yenagoa, in Bayelsa state. The incident occurred on the night of Monday, 13 October, at about 11 pm when the soldier, Lance corporal Muazu Haruna, attached to the 423 Battalion, Elele Barrack, in Rivers State, went crazy and shot dead his colleague.

The victim was identified as Sergeant Ishiaku, who died on on the spot, which is not too far away from the Banquet Hall of Government House.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Area Command Division of the Police, but due to the alleged intervention of an unidentified Captain, he was subsequently released to the Joint Task Force.

It is however, believed that the the culprit, Haruna, may have been intoxicated, which prompted him to commit the murder.
