Reports from the newspaper have it that men dressed in military uniforms on Friday intercepted and destroyed copies of Leadership Newspaper meant for the North-west region at the Kaduna toll-gate.

The seizure was confirmed by the paper’s managing director, Azubuike Ishiekwene.

It was gathered that vans transporting the Friday June 6 edition of the newspaper to some northern states, including Katsina, Gombe, Kano and Bauchi, were said to have been intercepted by the men who seized the copies, destroyed them and then seized the mobile phones of the drivers.

A similar incident was also reported of the vans heading for South-east and south-south geopolitical zones to distribute the newspapers.

A Leadership newspaper correspondent Patrick Ochoga said soldiers had stopped movement in or out of the  secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in a stop-and-search operation, checking if motorists were carrying copies of the newspaper.
