Teenager gets 10 days community service for stealing in Lagos

A 19-year-old man, Biodun Lukman was on Thursday sentenced to 10 days community service for stealing the sum of N61,000 by a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, The Vanguard reports.

Delivering her judgment the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ipaye Nwachukwu, in her judgment, ordered that the convict must put two hours daily for 10 days in serving the sentence.

The convict pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.

Prosecutor Anthonia Osanyade told the court that the convict committed the offence at Orile Iganmu in Lagos, sometime in July.

Osanyade said that the convict went to the shop of the complainant, Emeka Chukwuka, and stole N61,000 cash while he was busy attending to other customers.‎ She said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.
