Supreme Court Judge, Ngwuta, dies at 69

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of The Supreme Court is dead. The judge, 69, died just about three weeks to his 70th birthday anniversary on March 30 when he will be due for retirement from the bench – Premium Times reports

According to a statement by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Hadizatu Mustapha, Mr Ngwuta died in his sleep at about 2.30am on Sunday. It was also gathered that The Judge had been admitted at the National Hospital in Abuja for about one week before his death.


NLC, Reps disagree over minimum wage decentralisation bill

Mr Garba Muhammad a member of the House of Representatives, has written to the Nigeria Labour Congress urging the organised labour to wait for the public hearing on the bill seeking to decentralise the national minimum wage – The Punch reports

Garba’s letter is coming in response to the letter by the President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, on decentralising the minimum wage across states.

“I noted your dismay at Page 2 of your letter that ‘the national minimum wage could be discussed by the House without invitation to or input by organised labour…’ and wish to state that this is a misperception of the procedures of the House, but also to allay your fears about any legislative process on minimum wage proceeding without the very active involvement of organised labour,” Garba’s letter read in part.


SGF, PTF members receive vaccine today

Boss Mustapha, The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and other members of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 will receive the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, 8th March 2021 – The Nation reports

Willie Bassey, The Director of Information, in a statement, disclosed that the exercise will hold during the weekly national briefing by the PTF in Abuja.

“Arrangements have been concluded for the SGF/ Chairman of PTF and members to be vaccinated tomorrow, Monday 8th March 2021, during the weekly national briefing at 4:00 pm,” the statement reads.


Celebrities slam Samklef for sexualising colleague

Nigerian singer, Simi, Ex-BBNaija housemate, Erica, and a host of other celebrities has taken to Twitter to slam popular music producer, Samklef, for his tweet that sexualised fast rising artiste, Tems.

The music producer had taken Twitter to show his expectation after a viral video that featured Tems and Wizkid on set for a music video.
