Terrible: 7 suspects remanded in prison for beating man to death in Bauchi

Seven persons in Bauchi State have been locked behind bars after an order pronounced by a court to that effect.

The suspects were remanded following reports that they allegedly beat one Habibu Abdu to death in Azare headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the court was presided over by Justice Aliyu Baba Usman who ordered the locking up of the suspects identified as Ibrahim Suleiman, Bala Abe, Aminu Kabir, Agbus Ali, Muazzam Ibrahim, Bala Nasiru and Musa Dahiru.

When they were arraigned yesterday, the Prosecution counsel Usman I. Lame said the suspects “criminally conspired among themselves and causes the death of Habibu Abdu contrary to section 96 of the penal code”.

He said they beat late Habibu with wire on different parts of his body until he died and the offence contravenes section 221 of the penal code.

The case was adjourned to September 17 for further mention and the accused were ordered to be remanded in prison.
