A 60-year-old man, Malam Umaru following a dispute with his wife, Inno, slapped her to death in Jerin Duwatsu Village, Wanke district of Gusau local government.

According to the village head, Magaji Hamidu, the incident occurred when the deceased protested against the alleged injustice against her as her husband always favoured the senior wife on issues relating to matrimonial affairs.

It was gathered that Inno complained about the fact that the senior wife who never had a child for their husband always instructed the deceased’s children or the man to fetch water for her.

Leadership reports:

LEADERSHIP Sunday gathered that, Malam Umar was blessed with 12 children from the late Inno through forty years of matrimonial life, while the senior wife had no issue.

The village head however suggested that, the husband was probably provoked by the confrontational attitude of the late Inno and slapped her when she was openly venting her anger  on him.

The state’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Lawal Abdullahi, confirmed the incidence saying that the accused would soon be charged to court.
