The Chike Okoli Foundation (COF) has marked the World Heart Day with its annual Chike Okoli Week with the theme: Share the Power.
A statement by the programme coordinator, Beauty Alfred reads, “COF was basically set up to fight poverty and cardiovascular disease (CVDs). Our vision is to ensure that every young Nigerian becomes aware of CVDs and is further equipped with Entrepreneurial Skills for the building of a healthy and prosperous nation.
“In the last eleven years, the foundation has reached out to more than 10 million people across Nigeria and set out to tackle this problem by raising awareness among the Nigerian population, principally the youths. It targets the broad population through various informative channels that include radio, newspapers, brochures, posters and the internet. We always encourage participants to spread the information they have received to others, especially family members, friends and colleagues.”
The Chike Okoli Foundation is a non-profit organisation set up in May 2006, in memory of Chike Edward Okoli, who passed away on May 31, 2005, five days after his 25th birthday from undetected coronary artery disease.
