Pro-Buhari group asks security agencies to investigate Atiku

The Buhari Media Organisation on Tuesday asked security agencies to investigate what it described as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar’s “unholy romance with foreign bodies especially the United States of America, in pursuit of a mandate he never had.”

The group made the call in a statement by its Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju; and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke.

Bench warrant means nothing to me – Nnamdi Kanu

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has described the bench warrant against him by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, as “a mere  academic exercise”.

In a  statement obtained by our correspondent in Awka, Anambra, the IPOB leader said,  “The international and diplomatic community would surely ignore the bench warrant.”

Amosun, Shettima meet over senate presidency

Ogun State Governor,  Ibukunle Amosun, and his Borno State counterpart, Hashim Shettima,  engaged in a long discussion on Tuesday. The two governors, who are among the newly elected federal lawmakers currently attending an orientation programme in Abuja, excused themselves from the venue and had a discussion for a long time. It was gathered that their long talk was connected with the issue of the Senate presidency.

INEC fixes Kogi, Bayelsa, gov polls for Nov 2

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed 2nd November, 2019 for governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states. The decision, the National Commissioner in-charge of Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye in a statement was reached at the end of INEC’s meeting Tuesday.

According to the timetable and schedule of activities for the elections, parties are expected to produce their candidates between 2nd and 29th August 2019.

IGP visits Zamfara, charges policemen to be offensive

The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Mohammed Adamu has charged officers and men of the Force in Zamfara and Sokoto States to be offensive and take the battle to the bandits.

Zamfara and Sokoto States are states in the North West currently experiencing the challenges of armed banditry and other associated crimes. The IG in company of the DIG in charge of Operations, Abdulmajid Ali gave the charge on Tuesday during a visit to both States.
