So by now we all know the select group nominated for this year’s edition of The Future Awards Africa (and if you don’t, just in case you’ve been shipwrecked on some deserted island somewhere – because what other reason could there be for not knowing? – click here to see the full list) and we’ve seen my recap of the reception held for the nominees by the US Consulate on Thursday but we can’t forget in a hurry those who stole the show for us.
THE WINNERS:
Jade Osiberu
You’d be forgiven for wondering who the lady on the right is, as Jade Osiberu’s work takes place mainly behind the scenes. However the congratulatory shouts and “whoops” that came out from the crowd as her name was announced prove that she is far from being unnoticed. Seriously, you might have even assumed she was the only nominee. Jade is the GTBank Brand Manager and the brain behind the online TV platform, Ndani TV. She’s also the writer and director of the webseries Gidi Up.
OC Ukeje
Perhaps it was all in a bid to compensate for his absence, or maybe it’s down to the fact his work in front of the camera makes him more likely to have more popularity than many other nominees but the announcement of OC Ukeje’s name as part of the nominees for The Future Awards Prize In Entertainment Talent.
Titus and Tobias Igwe
The aforementioned twins are the behind Speed Meals Mobile Kitchen. The company was established in 2010 with a mission “to deliver fresh meals on time to workers at acceptable profit margin to achieve sustainable growth”.
The gentlemen were responsible for the great food at the event and it’s safe to say they did a fantastic job.
Special mention also goes out to the people at Tunmi Chops and gifts for the delicious snacks (Lord knows I lost track of how much I was eating) and Unique Providence Caterers for those glorious cocktails.
Latasha Endowed
Yes, her last name is now “Endowed,” in case you didn’t get the memo about me renaming her. And I’m pretty sure the photos of her in that showstopper of an outfit clearly display why. I’m not typically one for women that far from the skinny side of the spectrum but you have to admit it, she’s got the goods.
THE LOSER:
The only real loser at the event was, unfortunately, Ms. Toke Makinwa, and not just because she was looking whiter than a sheet of snow, either.
Ms. Makinwa was showing off a fair amount of side-boob which, under normal circumstances, would be welcome, but when it ends up looking like cottage cheese, someone just has to say no.
Plus two little friends seem to be playing peek-a-boo under her top.
Tut tut.
