It is nothing short of sadistic for an employer- any employer- to be playing camera man as their employee freefalls to her death. This is the story of an Arab employer and her Ethiopian housekeeper.
Apparently, the region is riddled with domestic abuse cases. According to the online paper, Middle East Eye, “The oil-rich Gulf state is home to more than 600,000 domestic helpers, a majority of them Asians, many of whom complain of abuse, mistreatment and non-payment of wages.
Hundreds of maids escape their employers every year over abuse, and the government has set up shelters for them. Some seek help from their embassies.”
The maid, who survived the fall, spoke with Al Arabiya Net, another news medium. She said she was not trying to commit suicide. She was trying to escape from her employer who wanted to kill her. How sobering.
