Satirist and author of popular novel, Born on a Tuesday, Elnathan John is no stranger to The Thread.
Today, a certain Dr. Joe Abah (or maybe it was the two effigies he spotted in an Abuja bathroom, we aren’t sure) has got him talking about patriarchy and the futility of many equality-centred discussions of the 21st century- what he calls “dumbing conversations”.
It’s not uncommon to hear people frame conversations around the notions they have about gender roles. These kind of futile conversations are usually masked by their pretensions of being centered around equality.
But all they do is show how far we have come with the campaign against patriarchy- we are still a long way from home.
