BBOG activist, Oby Ezekwesili has served President Buhari another dose of bitter truth: his administration is just as bad as that of Jonathan.
You will recall that in the early days of the Chibok Girls kidnap, then President Goodluck Jonathan spent some time dilly-dallying, calling the kidnap something orchestrated by his detractors. Also, many felt he was slow to handle Boko Haram’s bombings with the vigour of a C-in-C.
Well, President Buhari has now committed a Jonathanian sin. Following news reports of the deaths of 26 Nigerians while migrating overseas, it’s been crickets from His Excellency. Oby Ezekwesili is appalled at this and has told the President off.

You’re not different
.@MBuhari It is CALLOUS for any Leadership to NEVER feel the pains that tragedies bring the way of a people. Can your FG @AsoRock signal to the Nigerian Public that #NigerianCitizensLivesMatter?
Can YOU? https://t.co/6FR3qbKKIw— Oby Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) November 8, 2017
I recall our public outrage when during the previous administration, then President rather than acknowledge deaths in a bomb blast tragedy was busy at a Campaign Ground.
This FG of Pres @MBuhari NOW REPEATS SAME with our 26 girls that drowned in Mediterranean Sea. What Changed??— Oby Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) November 8, 2017
If this happens to US citizens, he will be among the first to condole

.@OUneku That’s an irony that we have seen many times before. It explains why other countries can disrespect the Nigerian. A country’s disposition to its Citizens set the pattern for the rest of the world’s attitude toward them. Sad but true. https://t.co/zskB1V8nCi

Here’s how bad it’s gotten
January 2017 .@GuardianNigeria published this: “36,000 Nigerians crossed to Italy via Mediterranean Sea in 2016 https://t.co/aWqZ31dJ6H “
What measures did the FG LEAD all other stakeholders to take in response to this significant DATA BASED REPORT on illegal migration?

“The Federal Government was briefed by Italian authorities on this development late last year. Sources said the government regarded the high number of Nigerians seeking asylum abroad as “mind-boggling and embarrassing.” Quote from a January 2017 report by .@GuardianNigeria

The Guide to Presidential Apologies After A National Disaster
Some things in Governance are pretty simple to do when people are thoughtful enough:
Good Governance would have meant the President’s arranging an interception by the Media as he left NASS yesterday to enable him give a #HoldingComment on #MediterraneanTragedy.— Oby Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) November 8, 2017
The President would say something like this to reassure his Citizens:
“We are aware of the #MediterraneanTragedy. Upon learning that the 26 Victims are from West Africa, we swiftly reached out to the Italian authorities to ascertain details of their identities.”— Oby Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) November 8, 2017
Citizens must without any reservation DEMAND the appropriate and speedy response of our President (no matter who it may be) & the FG to all matters RELEVANT to Governance of the Nigerian people. The tragedy of the 26 girls & women is one of such. There is a Cause. ??✍?
