The 45th President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, has ordered the launch of his first ever missile strike against the Assad regime in Syria. This comes after years of opposing US intervention in the armed conflict in the region.
See below what Trump tweeted in 2013:
What will we get for bombing Syria besides more debt and a possible long term conflict? Obama needs Congressional approval.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 29, 2013
President Obama, do not attack Syria. There is no upside and tremendous downside. Save your "powder" for another (and more important) day!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 7, 2013
Not too long ago, Trump gave reasons for ordering the strike (59 missiles) on the air field in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched.
Why the about face? Here’s what Trump said:
- “No child of God should ever suffer such horror.”
- “It is in this vital national security of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons.”
- “There can be no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons, violated its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention and ignored the urging of the UN Security Council. Years of previous attempts at changing Assad’s behaviour have all failed and failed very dramatically.”
Watch:
Expectedly, this has stirred up controversy as to the legitimacy of Trump’s actions. Not to mention calling into question Trump’s ‘America First’ programme.

— Beloved ?? (@TheNewThinkerr) April 7, 2017
the hypocrisy of Trump feigning concern for victims in Syria and yet he doesn't even want to accept refugees from that very country
— Beloved ?? (@TheNewThinkerr) April 7, 2017
#45 can cross all of the lines he wants, Congress nor the American people will stop him. Dictators thrive off of this shit.

This is going to get pretty twisted though.
Trump will win the support of some libs that want something done about Syria,— OlúAfolábí (@oluafolabi) April 7, 2017
While he will lose the support of some conservatives that feel like he broke his promise to not police the world.

To all of those who would not vote for @HillaryClinton because she was a War Hawk, well done. Trump has just bombed #Syria.
