Praises and prayers rend the heaven as Nigerians in their thousands gathered at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Onikan, Lagos for the thirteenth edition of The Experience, a yearly praise and worship meeting organised by House on the Rock.
Beyond the crowd at the venue, many others were glued to their television screens, laptops, tablets and mobile phones to watch the event live.
For some of us who watched it from the comfort of our homes, we couldn’t help but notice some lapses, especially with the production team. Many times, during the broadcast, viewers had no idea what was happening on the stage as the screen was filled with the sea of heads of participants at the venue. On one occasion, we were forced to watch certain individuals greeting one another through handshakes.
During the event, various comedians graced the stage to lighten the mood of participants. Many of the jokes were actually funny, some were very dry and Akpororo’s attack on Daddy Freeze was distasteful.
However, we couldn’t help notice the awesomeness of the stage. And we were not alone. This Twitter user actually believes that “the stage at #TheExperience13 way better than most of award show stages in Nigeria.”

And there’s NO lie in this tweet.
The performances were lit as every gospel minister brought their A-game to the platform. From Travis Greene’s Made A Way, to Nathaniel Bassey’s melodious rendition of his songs. Tope Alabi’s dress was beautiful but her time of worship was heavenly. How about Tim Godfrey’s testimony after his energetic performance. All the way from Australia, Planetshakers took the worship experience to another level.
But we cannot forget Timi Dakolo’s dramatic portrayal of Nigeria while singing Great Nation, his signature tune for Nigeria. Everything about the performance was classy.
Well, what more can be said about Kirk Franklin? He always delivers. And the brother does know how to dance. His performance was electrifying.
Chioma Jesus oooo! There’s more to say but I’d just allow you to enjoy this woman of God.
