Tope Alabi put up a tribute to Ibidunni Ighodalo and here’s how it’s been received

Mourning a loved one is never an easy thing and for many Nigerians, Ibidunni Ighodalo was beloved personality.

Thousands of people were shocked, to say the least when on Sunday, news hit the airwaves that the former Beauty Queen (Miss Lux) and wife to the Senior Pastor of Trinity Church Lagos, Ituah Ighodalo had passed away.

Tope Alabi, a Yoruba Gospel singer, is known for her emotional and heart-wrenching songs, capable of pulling the strings of a stone-cold heart. When her tribute song to the gem, Ibidunni Ighodalo was performed for Nigerians to see, nothing could stop the freeflow of tears. The solemn Yoruba song was uploaded on social media platforms and it expresses Alabi’s pain at hearing the news of Ibidunni’s passing. Alabi spoke of her assurance that Ibudun was in paradise but stressed the reluctance to let her go.

Nigerians praised the Gospel singer for her rendition, describing it as powerful and touching. Many echoed the same message in Alabi’s song corroborating the fact that Ibidun was an amazing and generous individual.

Ibidunni is widely known for her many philanthropical actions. Right up to her death, she had been working with the state governments of Rivers and Bayelsa to set up COVID-19 isolation centres for patients. She is also known for her transparency about her personal journey with infertility, became an advocate for reducing the stigma that came with infertility for Nigerian women and helped women in Nigeria seek medical alternatives for childbirth.

In the tribute song, Tope Alabi reiterates several times as the song comes to a close that “we will meet again.” Nigerians on social media sound in chorus as well that they are also assured that they would indeed meet again.
