Trump awards Medal of Valor to officers who responded to congressional baseball shooting

President Donald Trump honored in the East Room the first responders to the June 14 shooting at a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia with the Medal of Valor on Thursday. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, Matt Mike, Zachary Barth were shot and others were injured during the shooting.

Two Capitol Hill policemen were on the scene and rushed in to counter the attack and were also shot, the Alexandria Policemen came a few minutes later, saving the lives of the Capitol Hill police and engaging the gunman till the threat was neutralized and members of Congress, their families and others were safe.

During the ceremony, Trump said, “The Medal of Valor is reserved for those who go above and beyond the call of duty, as each of these men and women did that on that fateful day”. The medals were awarded to; Special Agent Crystal Griner, Special Agent David Bailey , Alexandria Police Department officers Nicole Battaglia, Kevin Jobe and Alex Jensen.

“We praise America’s Law Enforcement officers for doing a tough, dangerous, and sometimes thankless job with tremendous integrity, devotion, and courage. THANK YOU!”, Trump said.
