Trump attacks ESPN and Jemele Hill over NFL role

US President Donald Trump has slammed American based global cable and satellite sports television channel “ESPN” and its reporter Jemele Hill over the journalist’s tweet about NFL club owners including Jerry Jones of Dallas Cowboys, who warned their players to stand and honour the US Flag.

Jemele Hill is an American sports journalist who is a co-host of ESPN’s flagship SportsCenter.

Trump berated the sports channel for its poor ratings and equally undercuts the reputation of Jemele as a reporter for the media outlet.

He wrote: “With Jemele Hill at the mike, it is no wonder ESPN ratings have “tanked,” in fact, tanked so badly it is the talk of the industry!”.

Jemele Hill in a tweet bemusing the owner’s warnings wrote: “If you strongly reject what Jerry Jones said, the key is his advertisers. Don’t place the burden squarely on the players.”

ESPN has since suspended Jemele for two weeks arguing that Hill had violated its social media policies, and had “previously acknowledged letting her colleagues down with an impulsive tweet.
