Trump predicts players will stand for national anthem after speaking with Dallas Cowboys owner

Continuing with the weekend’s war of words between President Donald Trump and many quarterback players over the latter’s kneeling act during the national anthem – an incident that has painted the media with noises and generated so many imbroglios, President Trump said he spoke Tuesday to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Trump seems to have got solace in his talk with the Dallas Cowboys owner who donated $1 million to the President’s inaugural committee, predicting that the “players will stand for country.”

Trump wrote in a tweet: “Spoke to Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. Jerry is a winner who knows how to get things done. Players will stand for Country!”

The president’s flurries of attacking words against NFL players kneeling during the national anthem began last Friday, when Trump told a crowd “wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘get that son of a bitch off the field right now — he’s fired”

The players’ act was in continuation of last summer’s protest by Colin Kaepernick, a San Francisco 49ers quarterback who knelt to defy respect for the US Flag owing to the police shooting of two black citizens.
