Trump readies new sanctions for North Korea

After warning in his first UNGA address that the US might destroy North Korea if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, US President Donald Trump in the latest step to deter the regime from further developing its nuclear and missile programs, has said he will announce new sanctions against North Korea later Thursday.

The President made the statement during a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. He said, “We will put more sanctions on North Korea”. Aides have since disclosed a scheduled announcement later Thursday.

Tensions on the North Korea crisis intensified when Trump made the fierce warning in his speech. Leaders of South Korea, Japan, and Israel have since related with Trump’s position, but the Chinese and French government are still calling for a more diplomatic approach to solve the lingering crisis.
