Trump slams Democrats for not ‘caring’ about America’s safety

As the new DACA legislation poses to be a herculean task for the Congress owing to the Democrats uncompromising stand of a clean bill without any attachments, President Trump has accused the opposition parry leaders of being retrogressive and unconcerned about the nation’s weak borders.

Trump who conferred with Democrats leaders in the Senate and House; Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi respectively at a dinner in the White House early last month, insists that some strict border security measures be attached to the passage of the DACA bill.

Democrats, have, however, refused to roll the dice with the President and Republicans in general by rejecting any attachments to the bill. They insist on a clean DACA bill, with other measures tabled for a separate legislation – an action that has resulted in the stalemate over the legislation for Dreamers.

Tweeting on Tuesday, Trump said, “The problem with agreeing to a policy on immigration is that the Democrats don’t want secure borders, they don’t care about safety for U.S.A.”

President Trump on Monday presented a new hardline immigration proposal to Congress, which includes building a controversial border wall, speeding up deportations and dramatically increasing the number of officials involved in enforcement.

The document calls for preventing immigrants from sponsoring their extended families in moving legally to the US and limiting such green cards to spouses and children. The proposal is to be attached to the new DACA legislation.

DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is an Obama policy enacted in 2012 which seeks to protect about 800,000 beneficiaries who were brought to the US illegally as children from deportation and allows them to apply for work permits.

Trump phased out the program last month and gave Congress six months to find an alternative bill to the policy.
