Uncle Henry walks off the stage, Kendris is the star of the night | Top 5 moments from episode two of The Voice Nigeria

It was another night of thrilling performances and top-notch theatre as the second set of contestants sang to impress The Voice Nigeria star coaches.

Here are our top five moments from tonight’s show:

Gloria Asene’s touching story

It was a rare moment on The Voice Nigeria. The contestants’ usually get the chance to tell their stories briefly backstage before their performances but for Gloria, we saw a footage of her family back home in Bayelsa. Gloria comes from a very humble background, lives with her mother and six siblings all who struggle to survive with the paltry earnings from the family’s fish and firewood business.

The 18-year-old performed Bruno Mar’s Locked out of Heaven but failed to get a nod from any of the judges. It was sad to see her lose out on an opportunity she passionately longed for. We hope to see other doors open for Gloria Asene.

2. This guy legit walked out on the judges

38-year-old Henry McJohn proved one thing to the coaches: I’m not you people’s mate. He belongs to the older generation and was ready to “drop like it’s hot” but the judges didn’t feel his performance hence no turn.

The never-before-seen reaction to the judges’ comments was the biggest highlight of the show. Oga Henry walked off the stage and nearly “tore shirt” for hosts, IK Osakioduwa and Stephanie Coker backstage. It was so fun to watch but very instructive too and Timi Dakolo could not let the moment pass without dropping a few words of wisdom.

3. It was a good night for natives of Bayelsa

Team Bayelsa was unintended but it definitely made Timi Dakolo proud to see that a good number of tonight’s contestants hail from the same state as him. Gloria, Alero, Kendris and Daniel are all from Bayelsa and the force was so obvious that it got Twitter NG users to start making insinuations.

4. Kendris wrapped up the show like a boss

We’ll be keeping an eye on 25-year-old Kendris Ologidi.

After that incredible performance that got all four judges turning for him, we know we’re in for a tight competition with the other contestants from last week and tonight.

Safe to say he was the star of the night.

5. Kendris got to ride on Timi’s back

We can trust Timi to coach Kendris to perfection considering his approval of him tonight.

He even carried him on his back like a child so we’re not sure there’s need to say more.
