Sukurat Aminu of No. 23, Rashidi Akotun Street, Bariga, was on Tuesday arraigned for allegedly hiring the services of  unknown soldiers to abduct and thoroughly beat her neighbours following a disagreement.

Aminu was arraigned today at the Somolu Magistrate’s Court for hiring five military men to deal mercilessly with Olusola Nosiru and Owolabi Mariam who are co-tenants in the same residential address.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the issue was fueled by disagreements over the proper utilisation of a heap of sand said to be in front of their house. Aminu had called on some individuals who were ready to buy the sand but Nosiru disagreed and went on to fill a nearby gully with the sand.

Police prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Akinlebi, who is prosecuting the case said the incident happened on the morning of August 6, 2012.

He said, “Aminu had called on some willing buyers of the sand but Nosiru objected to the sale, and began filling the front of the house with the sand, leading to a fight.

“The matter was thereafter reported to the police station and was resolved. Aminu was not satisfied with the decision of the police, and then decided to enlist the services of some unknown military men.

“Owolabi and Nosiru were then taken to an unknown location at Ilaje waterway and thoroughly beaten,” he claimed.

Aminu who was in court on a two count charge of threat to life and assault pleaded not guilty to the alleged offense.

After taking her plea, the presiding magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi, granted Aminu bail in the sum of N200,000 and two sureties in like sum, she then aadjourned the case till August 31.
