Woman suffers 100 stitches after fighting and killing a leopard

An Indian woman, Kamla Devi got into an hour-long fight with a leopard who attacked her as she was heading home from the farm in Koti Bodna, Rudarprayag.

Reports say the leopard attacked her as she walked home from the fields, and she fought back with a sickle and a small spade, before she was able to kill the animal. The injured woman had to walk for more than half-a-mile before she could find help.

Devi, a widower, sustained deep cuts and three fractures from the attack told local media that she has a vivid recollection of the human-animal fight.

A villager said, “When Kamla was on her way to the village, the leopard attacked her. She showed great courage by fighting the animal with a sickle and a small spade. The animal fled the spot after the scuffle. We later found the leopard dead near the village.”

Meanwhile, Medical officials say that she suffered more than 100 stitches and she is also being treated for two fractures on her right hand and on the left.
