Woman told to wait 8 years after pet chicken swallows her diamond earring

Sarah the rooster was perched on Claire Lennon’s shoulder when it swallowed the $450 jewel.

A British woman faces a long wait for the return of her diamond earring after it was swallowed by her pet rooster.

Vets said Claire Lennon, from Berkshire, will have to wait until her sneaky six-month-old thief, Sarah, dies to retrieve the $450 sparkler trapped inside his stomach.

And that could take up to eight years.

“The vet said he could operate to recover the earring, but that might kill Sarah, which would devastate our 6-year-old daughter Mia,” said the 38-year-old.

Vets said they could try to remove the earring with surgery — but that would endanger Sarah’s life.

“So we’ll have to wait till Sarah gets old and dies, but they live to a ripe old age — we are probably looking at another eight years before I get my earring back,” she added.

Lennon received the pair of earrings from long-term partner Adam, reports the Mirror.

She said that Sarah — who is a rooster despite having a female name — was sitting on her shoulder when he pecked at her ear and gobbled it down.
