#WorldCup 2018: Magnificent Musa scores twice as Nigeria beats Iceland 2-0

Two brilliant goals from Ahmed Musa ensured Nigeria defeated Iceland 2-0 to give the Super Eagles campaign much needed hope ahead of our last group game against Argentina on Tuesday. Musa opened the scoring in the 49th minute by scoring a screamer in the box from a Victor Moses cross from the right. He added another in the 75th minute with a beautiful solo effort to beat the Icelandic goalkeeper Hannes Thor Halldorsson and showed great composure to slot it into the net.

Iceland struggled to handle Musa’s pace in the second half in which the Super Eagles looked a different team after playing terribly in the first half. Nigeria failed to register a shot in the first half, but the Super Eagles rampaged through in the second half and shocked Iceland and indeed the whole world with the second half display.

Earlier, Brazil defeated a resolute Costa Rica team 2-0 to grab all three points and go four points ahead in the group. Brazil struggled to create clear chances. Neymar was a big disappointment in the game despite getting on the scoresheet. Philippe Coutinho broke the deadlock for Brazil in the 90th minute by connecting with a well stabbed shot in the penalty box before Neymar added another in regulation time to consolidate the victory and eliminate Costa Rica from the World Cup.
