A teacher of Cleveland primary school in Kisalosalo zone, Kyebando, suffered horrendous burns Sunday morning at the hands of her infuriated husband over alleged insubordination.

Jane Babirye suffered burns to her breasts, arms and thighs when her husband, Shaban Kayondo, burnt her with a hot flat iron for leaving their children at home unattended to and opted to attend a colleague’s wedding.

Kayondo, a taxi driver, was arrested and whisked to Kisalosalo police post after residents tipped off authorities.

He is said to have plugged the iron in power and after it had caught enough heat, he went on to burn his wife before caning her over negligence.

He was charged with causing grievous harm on police file number SD ref.06/01/09/2013.
