“Here I am, alive”: This is the Abubakar Shekau video everyone’s talking about (WATCH)

by Akan Ido

The video showing Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau refuting claims that he was killed in the battle of Konduga, Borno State has been released by SaharaReporters.

In the video, a man who bears a striking resemblance to the Shekau who reportedly died boasted that his group are running a “Islamic Caliphate” in the territories taken over by his sect.

“Here I am, alive. I will only die the day Allah takes my breath,” Shekau said, adding that his group was “running our… Islamic caliphate” and administering strict sharia punishments.

Shekau who appeared to be reading from a script maintained that he will not die until his days are over.

“Nothing will kill me until my days are over… I’m still alive. Some people asked you if Shekau has two souls. No, I have one soul, by Allah,” he said.

“It is propaganda that is prevalent. I have one soul. I’m an Islamic student.

“I’m the Islamic student whose seminary you burnt… I’m not dead,” he added, apparently referring to the destruction of the group’s mosque in the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, in 2009.
