Omotunde Adebowale-David and Lolo and Adaku are easily the same person, although they assume each personae per circumstance.

When we sealed the deal to spend A Day in the Life of Wazobia FM OAP, Lolo, I knew we had hit a goldmine. From the moment my team and I first reached out to her to be a guest on our new column, we could almost predict this was about to be a massive hit. And boy, we were not disappointed.

So, Thursday was D-day and Lolo’s Personal Assistant, Kelvin (who is an amazing guy, by the way) had us meet her up at the Cool/Wazobia FM studio in the upscale Victoria Island area of Lagos. It was at the studio the party started.

Lolo is ebullient and it was clear that no human or weather could take that away from her. Slapping high-fives and exchanging quick-witted banter with members of the station’s staff regardless of their cadre, I walked quietly behind her as I paid attention to the amazing star that is yet to fully find her way into the consciousness of most Nigerians. But trust that she would not let hide me in peace. “Meet Biola from YNaija, he’s with me today for A Day in my Life“, she said to everyone who cared to listen.

We went from room to room to studio as she introduced her work colleagues to the camera from Yaw to Mannie to Kemi Smallz to the lady at the front desk *note that she had to be on air and was running out of time but she had a story to tell about everyone and nothing was going to stop that. A uniquely personal story about each person that made me wonder how much time and effort she dedicated to knowing every member of staff.

It wasn’t until I sat to have a proper chat with Lolo1 of Africa that I found how much people matter to her and then everything I had seen the whole day suddenly made sense to me. Beyond the people around her including her four lovely children, Lolo had so much more to say.
