African Patriotic Youth Assembly, PAYAS, have decided to engage youths to enter a competition that enables them to write the President a letter to discuss prevailing issues in the country.

PAYAS announced that entries are now being received for the youth-focused essay competition entitled, “Letter to Mr President.”

The competition is for young Nigerians from the ages of 18 to 25 who are eligible to vote.

“Participants are expected to write a letter to the president on three key areas of core achievements, partial achievement, and areas demanding attention that were yet to be touched. Letter should state in clear terms the effects of the policies on the people, and suggest how the president might improve them if need be,” PAYAS said.

Winners will be announced on February 16 and a cash prize of N100,000 will be given to the youths who wrote the top 50 essays. A team of judges who will be made known at the conclusion of the submission, will determine the top 50 essays.

These essays will be published in a book form and presented to the President as a manifesto of the needs/participation of Nigerian youths to governance.

Submissions shall be written in the form of a letter of not more than 300 words. Participants who submit more than one entry will be automatically disqualified.
