OOU lecturers boycott classes, protest irregular salary payment
There was a protest march on Monday by lecturers of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago – Iwoye, as they stormed the main and mini campuses of the institution, boycotting lectures over the irregular payment of their salaries, allowances and poor funding by the Ogun State government.
The lecturers began the march by 10:15 a.m at the gathering at the mini campus in hundreds and proceeded to the permanent site to protest over unpaid salaries saying that for three years running, their salaries have been very irregular. Read more….
Taraba acting Gov. sacks 24 special advisers
Acting governor of Taraba state, Garba Umar has sacked 24 special advisers to the state government and filled the vacant seats with 24 new people.
The new development was contained in a statement made available to newsmenon Monday in the state capital Jalingo signed by the Secretary to the state government, Garvey Yawe. Read more….
10 burnt to death in Lagos-Ibadan Express road
Tragedy struck as 10 people lost their lives in a fatal motor accident which occurred along Lagos-Ibadan expressway road.
The victims were burnt to death in the accident while four people sustained injuries.
The accident was confirmed by the The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Oluyole Unit Commander, Sanya Adeoye. Read more….
Court of Appeal Returns N7 Billion to NIMASA
The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Friday, March 14, 2014 effectively ordered the return of the sum of NGN7,000, 000, 000 (Seven Billion Naira) to the NIMASA in Appeal No. CA/L/62/12 between: Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency V. Henmor Nigeria Limited.
In a considered and unanimous judgement, the Court of Appeal agreed with the arguments of Senior Counsel to NIMASA, Mr. Louis Mbanefo, SAN, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN and Dr Fabian Ajogwu, SAN and allowed the Appeal against the Judgment of a Federal High Court, Lagos, on the ground that there were no credible evidences upon which judgment was entered in favour of the Respondent at the trial court. FUT, Minna expels 5 students over exam malpractice
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has ordered street traders along Douglas Road and other streets within Owerri municipality to relocate immediately to Relief Market, Owerri.
Okorocha, who gave the directive when he made an unscheduled visit to Relief Market, also said the open sheds in the market were ready and would be open for the petty traders to occupy. Read more….
