How 20 Nigerian pilgrims died in Mecca

The death toll of Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia since the beginning of this year’s Hajj has risen to 20.

The figure was confirmed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).0

Chairman of the commission, Abdullahi Mukhtar, stated this on Monday, at a pre-Arafat stakeholders meeting at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Mukhtar revealed that out 20 deaths, 14 pilgrims died due to cardiac arrest and other ailments, while six died during the September 11 crane crash.

He said only 3 Nigerians were injured during the crane crash, adding that all the pilgrims that submitted valid documents to the commission for visa were airlifted to Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage.
