4 teenagers in prison for beating schoolmate to death

Four teenagers appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State for the murder of one Mustapha Abubakar, their school mate.

According to reports, the accused teenagers all pleaded not-guilty to the charges against them. The suspects include; Idowu Adesunloye, 18, Wasiu Adeyemi, 19, Kehinde Rasaki, 18, Lawal Endurance 18.

They were all arraigned on two counts of murder.

The charge sheet read in part, “That you, Idowu Adesunloye, Wasiu Adeyemi, Kehinde Rasaki, Lawal Endurance, and others at large, on the 7th day of June, 2013 at about 1300hrs, at Iloro Street, Agege, Lagos Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit: Murder and thereby committed an offence, punishable under Section 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos Nigeria, 2011.”

The suspects reportedly stabbed the deceased with sharp objects in a fight that begun school. They took the fight outside and continued their attack on Abubakar, culminating in his death.

Magistrate S.O Solabo, ordered the four accused be kept in prison pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the case was adjourned till July 22.
