The police in Enugu State on Tuesday said its operatives have rescued an 84-year-old woman, Roseline Odoh, and her daughter, Josephine, from kidnappers.

While speaking to newsmen, spokesman for the state police command, Ebere Amaraizu said the victims were kidnapped on September 22 from their house at Ogbelle Ohullor in Udenu LGA of the state.

He confirmed that they were rescued on September 23, with support from the local vigilante group.

He said a Renault car with registration number, UWN 992 LN, used for the operation was recovered.

Amaraizu also said one of the suspects was shot dead while exchanging gunshots with policemen.
