The Editor-in-Chief of Pulse Nigeria, Osagie Alonge popularly know as Osagz, played host to rapper M.I. Abaga on his podcast series ‘Loose Talk’ following bad blood that brewed after Pulse published a critical – or as they choose to call it, badly-digested – article of the rapper.
The 2hours-46minutes-15seconds-long podcast started out on a light note with basic introduction, familiarisation, and setting of ground rules. But things soon got heated with the two parties throwing major jabs at each other. As if that was not bad enough, Osagz made certain expletive-filled comments which M.I. took very personally making him call Osagz to order, warning him sternly not to repeat them.
Both men lost their tempers at some point, but the podcast eventually ended on friendlier note with M.I telling Osagz and his co-host Ayo on the need to support local art – irrespective of whatever media beef their “international paymasters” make them manufacture.
The takeout:
- The Nigerian media should be more supportive of our local acts, and shouldn’t benchmark local entertainers against international entertainment industry for the obvious reason that the Nigerian industry is still much younger and less funded.
- There should also be more platforms such as ‘Loose Talk’ where entertainers can get to clarify misconceptions about them.
As expected, the interview became a trending topic on Twitter.
Here’s what people are saying:
A lot of people hailed M.I. for being calmer and more collected than one would expect a Nigerian celebrity to be in such a situation.
I just saw this… M.i got chill. He is a real Boss. @AfroVII M.I and Osagz lost their temper. #LooseTalkPodcast pic.twitter.com/WqEccfbyEq

Osagz also got some praise
If only Nigerian Journalists can rough handle our politicians the way Osagz rough-handled MI, we'd make progress.
