Robin William’s family is still struggling to pick up the pieces months after he committed suicide at 63.

According to the New York Times, the late comedian’s family is in the middle of a bitter court dispute over his estate. Susan Schneider Williams, who married Williams in 2011, is battling with Zak (pictured), his son with his first wife, Valerie Velardi, and Zelda and Cody, his children with his second wife, Marsha Garces Williams.

Williams’ will clearly stated that the vast majority of his estate would go to a trust dedicated to his kids. After he got married again, he created another, smaller trust, that would give his wife the home they shared together and “the contents thereof,” plus enough money to maintain it for the rest of her life.

The main issue however is the “contents thereof.” The trust says that any clothes, jewelry, and photos Williams had prior to his marriage to Susan would go to his kids, and so would any memorabilia and awards related to his career. But Susan says she has a right to certain items they shared at their home, like the suit her husband wore to their wedding, plus his “personal collection of knickknacks.”

Those “knickknacks” include graphic novels, action figures, and movie posters — items that Williams’ kids loved and cherished. The BBC reports Williams’ children say there should be no limit to the items they can receive from before their father’s third marriage.

Williams’ widow filed legal papers back in December, alleging some items had been removed from their home without her permission, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She also asked a judge to clarify the trust’s provisions about Williams’ home in Napa. Last month, Williams’ children filed their own papers, saying their stepmother is trying to act against their father’s wishes.

This probably isn’t the way the actor pictured it would end.

  1. See what suicide can cause…There is so much to live for. He didn’t do the right thing, now his family might fall apart.
