Apparently, some opportunists have begun to take advantage of the Ebola outbreak in Lagos state.
The Lagos State Government has warned residents to be wary of some unscrupulous people who are hawking “Ebola Cassettes, Test Kit” and other Ebola-related items to people.
On Wednesday, 3 September, a statement was released by Governor Babatunde Fashola’s special adviser on media, Mr Hakeem Bello, saying that some fake Ebola test kits are already in circulation within the state.
Case in point is one, which is called, ‘Rapid Response Canada’ with test results said to be available in 10 minutes.
Bello says there are no Ebola test kits manufactured anywhere in the world and that the technique for its manufacture is not yet in existence.
He also added that members of the public should avoid patronizing the makers and marketers of the products.
