Ahead of the September 6 African Cup of Nations qualifying match between the Super Eagles and Red Devils of Congo, officials have said that spectators will be screened for the Ebola Virus Disease.

“We are aware of the deadly effect of Ebola and because of this, we have mapped out strategies to ensure that all spectators who come to watch the Eagles are tested for the virus before they are allowed into the stadium,” said the Cross River State sports commissioner, Patrick Ugbe.

The UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar, where the match will be played, has a capacity for about 15,000 spectators.

Ebola Virus outbreak in Nigeria has accounted for seven deaths so far and visiting Congo have expressed concerns about the disease in the country.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has banned other West African countries (Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia) hit by the virus outbreak from hosting football matches till further notice. All Nations Cup qualifying matches to be former played in those countries have been moved to other safer venues.
