Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, got his name on the lips of many following an Instagram post where he celebrated his wife, Foluke Adeboye on her 72nd birthday.
The man of God penned a lengthy piece dedicated to his wife in which he shared some lessons young ladies could learn from, however, the Nigeria Twitter community has taken to the platform to express what the ‘love letter’ to his wife, and the message therein means to them.

In his letter, the pastor pointed out that his wife, Foluke, has remained loyal and pious in their many years of marriage as he shared examples of how she has been serving him since marriage and even at this point in their marriage. What was supposed to be a piece of advice to the younger generations after him, got a few reactions from people who berated the pastor and slammed his wife for placing women in a backward position in these modern times.
On her birthday yunno.
Pastor Adeboye: I am her puppeteer, praise God. https://t.co/0viPJDponQ

I like how Pastor Adeboye likes to rile up woke Twitter. He does not need your validation for anything. He is celebrating his wife the best way he can. Take your energy and tears and use it to mend your parents marriage.

While many have shared that this isn’t the first time the pastor would be stirring the ‘Woke Twitter’ community, they also pointed out that his views are becoming more and more worrisome as many pointed out that he needs to stop ‘shoving his ideas on people.’
can't believe Adeboye really sat down & found a way to make his wife's birthday about himself and his power over her. a simple "happy birthday my love" will do next time please

While many took several swipes at him, others supported him as they shared that he was only celebrating his wife the best way he knows, even as they pointed out that Pastor Adeboye and his wife’s marriage is not a public affair.
The funniest thing is Pastor Adeboye doesn’t even care about y’all reactions.

Pastor Adeboye's thread was an admonition for his congregants, it really shouldn't bother woke twitter, Will and Jada already gave you the woke marriage edition.

Pastor Adeboye decided to praise his wife on her birthday, thereby commenting on what has kept them together till date. But fools that can’t keep 6 months relationship are insulting him and turned it into a gender war.

While the gesture may have provoked a few, Pastor Adeboye is likely not to address the reactions he has received on the issue, given his disposition towards previous controversies on similar subject.
