Buhari has travelled out of Nigeria ‘only 20%’ of the time he’s been President

President Muhammadu Buhari arrived at the United States of America on Wednesday, March 30 for the Nuclear Security Summit -making it his 26th journey out of the country since he assumed power in May 2015.

Despite the frequency of his travels, according to statistics provided by BudgIT Nigeria, a civic tech organisation, the President has spent about 20% of his time since inauguration on foreign soil.

After being in office for 307 days, the BudgIT statistics say President Buhari has been out of the nation for an estimated total of 64 days with 199 hours of flight time to his belt.

The President has visited 23 countries and covered about 160,760,72km in flight distance.

The countries visited by the president are listed Niger Republic, Chad, Germany, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States of America, Benin Republic, France, Ghana, India, Sudan, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Kenya and Ethiopia.

Other countries include Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon.
