Army kills scores of Boko Haram fighters, release more photos from Konduga battle

Scores of Boko Haram militants have been killed by the military on the outskirts of Borno State.

Nigeria’s military have successfully crushed an apparent revenge mission by the Boko Haram militants who attempted another march on Konduga, Borno State town on Wednesday morning.

A Wednesday morning battle with insurgents at Konduga lasted 12 hours before victory was attained.

A defence source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said; “Right now, our troops are combing the vicinity of the battle scene in a cordon and search operation to determine the exact casualty figures suffered by the terrorists in the encounter”.

It was learnt that during the battle, three Hilux vehicles, one armoured personnel carrier and a cache of arms and ammunition were confirmed captured by the troops.

Last week, over one hundred Islamic insurgents were killed after hours of combat in the town of Konduga.
