A 42-year-old elementary school teacher had sex with a 13-year-old student at band camp where he was a leader, police said today.

Kenyan Rodgers was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.

The alleged assault took place at a Texas Southern University camp for middle and high school students.

Rodgers is on administrative leave from Ridgegate Elementary School in Fort Bend County.

The 42-year-old is accused of inappropriately touching the 13-year-old band camp student and having sex with her in a university parking garage located off Blodgett Street, court documents state.

Nancy Porter, a spokesperson for the Fort Bend Independent School District, told Khou11: ‘Rodgers is on administrative leave. Fort Bend County ISD Police are conducting a separate investigation.

‘The safety of our students is our highest priority.’

His bond has been set at $30,000. He remains in jail.
