It’s rare to come across the mainstream narrative that doesn’t case Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose as some sort of clown. And that’s really a best-case scenario. Well, apart from the grudging acknowledgement that he is, above all things, a skilled showman and a shrewd politician. It’s also easy to see why – his motives are often naked. He makes no attempts to hide his deliberate endeavours to stir fire under the seats of members of the current administration (particularly those belonging to the APC) as he fiercely opposed them (who can forget the manner in which his anti-Buhari campaign threw all caution to the wind). But the thing about intentions is, they can often mask the true impact of a thing. So, even though Governor Fayose “supports” Nnamdi Kanu purely because he’s been cast as an enemy of the Presidency, his support is important. Because the rule of law needs as many vocal supporters as it can get.
